and a Dull Mirror" oder "Curiosity, Muscae, Erethism and Indecipherable
Signs", dann darf man getrost auf den NO Krautrock
sui generis aus dem Umfeld von N.N. und ähnliche Elemnte tippen.
Die "besten 12 der Hitparade pränataler Musik" des Erika
Jürgens-Duos Erik Mälzner und Jürgen Richter aus Mülheim
a. d. Ruhr werden theoretisch fundiert durch die "Musikhören
auf einer anderen Ebene" betitelten Anmerkungen von Prof. Karl
Zeneimer. Seine Thesen lauten, dass Musik, Stimmen und Klänge für
das Kind akustische Nahrung sind, dass der eigene Musikgeschmack etwas
damit zu tun hat, wie jemand sein Leben dem Chaos anpassen möchte,
dass zuviel Musik nie schädlich sein kann und schließt mit
der Faustregel, dass alles, was die Mutter nicht gerne mag dem Kind
guttut. Als weiterführende Lektüre sei "Sphären
I - Blasen" des "negativen Gynäkologen" Perter Sloterdijk
empfohlen. Nachdem Raymond Scotts "Musik for soothing Babies"
sich inzwischen als verheerend in der Pisa-Studie niedergeschlagen hat,
sollte jede deutsche Reformpädagogik bereits im Mutterleib mit
den "Top 12" von Erika Jürgens beginnen.

Erika Jürgens ist der humoristische Ableger der No Edition, deren
Heimat ein tiefes Kellergewöblbe in Mülheim an der Ruhr ist.
Ich würde diesen Menschen in normalen Leben, also nicht als Odradekschreiber,
auf keinen Schritt trauen, obwohl sie bei einen Besuch einen freundlichen
Eindruck hinterließen. Was hier als Top 12 dargeboten wird, ist
merkwürdige Kombination verschiedener Elemente, deren Enträtselung
angestammten Musikwissenschaftler überlassen werden soll. Ein zurück
in den Mutterbauch wird nicht angestrebt, aber das mit Musik zu beeinflußende
Neugeborene soll mit diesen Klängen schon mal rein akustisch auf
die Außenwelt vorbereitet werden. Man scheint in Mülheim
schon einige Experimente dieser Art vollzogen zu haben, handelt es sich
doch um die Top 12: eine sehr unlineare, improvisierte Musik mit herkömmlichen
Instrumenten. Den Tip mit dem Schweinebauch laß ich aber lieber.

"Erika Jürgens composed music for well-known maternity wards,
in Germany and abroad, during the last 30 years of the 20th century.
By examining the biographies of those born in the clinics, we were able
to assemble the 12 most successful pieces. They are introduced to the
public here for the first time." The 12 tracks are not all the
same, each are a combination of improvisation music performed with several
instruments and a certain kind of style of music. We must say that not
each track is as good as the other. First track for example is pure
improvisation music in which instruments are played randomly only the
cymbals are able to give some rhythm. The second track has a bit more
structure and here the sound has a jazzy touch. The main instruments
in the tracks are e-guitar, drums, computer, e-organ, midi-keyboard
and sampler. The use of electronics in the compositions is very clear
in the third track where samples and an ambient background is present
and brings a finishing touch to the improvisation music. This continues
in track 4 and gets an apotheoses in track 5. This tack start as easy
improvisation music but slightly a tempting rhythmical tune adds a driving
force to the music. For sure a good example of improvisation music and
rhythmical tunes. The CD continues in the same way with all other tracks,
with more variations in the combinations and where the electronic touch
is more or less presented. Especially when the attention goes mostly
to a main instrument as a dobro-guitar, zither or wooden sax, the electronics
are less important and improvisation is taking the lead.
